Hot Club Faux Gitane* Hot Club Faux Gitane is an acoustic swing band like no other you've ever heard! We draw inspiration from the hot jazz tradition pioneered by Django Reinhardt and his Quintette du Hot Club de France, with acoustic guitars and double bass providing the rhythmic core. But the band sets itself apart by featuring mandolin, bassoon, and vocals, with the occasional clarinet and melodica. This unique instrumentation, along with inventive and often witty arrangements, bring new vitality and freshness an old favorite genre. Hot Club Faux Gitane also augments the traditional hot jazz repertoire with original compositions, jazz standards, and even Latin tunes — all played in our unique style. This upbeat, toe-tapping music will have you at least bopping in your seat, if not dancing in the aisles!
*Roughly translated, our name means "Hot Club of the Fake Romani." Yes, we know it's not proper French.
